    We Are Making an IMPACT

What will IMPACT service projects look like for Spring 2021?

Due to Covid-19, IMPACT service looks different this semester, but students can still make an IMPACT virtually! We can help to connect you to a virtual opportunity, or assist you with planning a project of your own! Learn more here.

    Project Based Learning

A teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.

IMPACT is a measured approach to instilling in NU students a model of collective impact that creates systemic change through project based learning. It is a comprehensive and individualized service program, which places more emphasis on professional and personal growth versus a model that highlights hours of service.

At the heart of IMPACT’s mission is the advancement of the culture of civic and community engagement that exists at NU through closer alignment with the university’s Vincentian mission and Strategic Vision Commitments. The model accentuates career preparation and workforce development through service.

Broad integration of civic and community engagement into the university’s academic curricula leverages the expertise of NU professors and strengthen the mentor-mentee relationship between faculty and students. The interdisciplinary focus on addressing identified community shortfalls is designed to foster systemic change in the Western New York region and beyond.

Through our faith and service, we can change the face of the earth.

    Father Joseph Levesque
